Giada Sponzilli is a director of photography, video maker and photographer based in London. Working in the area of cinematography, for many years she has combined her passions for movies and photography.
She worked in Italy for 3 years both as a freelance videographer for commercials and as a cinematographer in independent production for music videos and short films.
In the last year, she gained more knowledge and confidence in the camera and lighting department thanks to the MA in Cinematography at Met Film School (2019-2020), where she had the chance to work in many short films as a cinematographer (Flicker, Admission), as a camera assistant and also in the lighting department as a gaffer and spark.
On two occasions, she took part in the 48h Film Project as the director of photography, with her team taking the prize for Best use of genre and Best use of prop for the short film Eureka (2017).
She has attended a number of specialization courses in Italy and abroad, including internships at Escuela Internacional de Cine y Television in Cuba, the School of Visual Arts in New York, and the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome.
Thanks to these intercultural experiences, she has a deep knowledge of both Spanish and English.
She earned a cum laude BA degree in Entertainment arts and sciences (Arti e Scienze dello Spettacolo) at Sapienza University of Rome.
She is now working in the camera department.
She worked for 4 years as a freelance photographer for events, celebrations and studio portraits and she has a deep knowledge of Photoshop.
She studied Photography at Scuola Romana di Fotografia e Cinema (Rome, Italy), where she learned analog photography and how to develop films in the darkroom.
In 2017 she took first prize in the Urban Life competition held by the Punto Raw photography association, thanks to her photo Night Readings (from the “Lost Nights” project).
In 2018 she took first prize in the Rome Photomarathon competition for the category Dreaming Architecture.
She also took part in many exhibitions like the Trieste Photo Fringe Festival 2018.
